Does anybody know a workaround for this? I vaguely remember reading a post from Messmaster a while back where he acknowledged the issue but said there were no plans to fix it, but we're now at a point where this site is almost unusable on the Macbook Pro.
Probably won't work for everyone...but I'm on a PC and it was running incredibly slow for me as well. I unplugged my modem, waited a bit, then plugged it back in, waited for it to reboot up and that fixed my issue. I'm no tech wizard, but as I said...worked for me.
have no problems even tho I'm on an older quad core i7 iMac. Could be because I have 64gb of ram. what browser are you using and how many tabs to you have open? multiple browser tabs, especially in a memory hungry browser like chrome, can be a major source of slowness. This is especially true if you have smaller amounts of system memory (8-16gb even on some older systems.).
It's comical to me how the need for system ram has exploded. Developers used to have to be super careful and use meticulous memory management. Now, knowing that there's an abundance of resources on a fair amount of modern computers, it's ok to get sloppy with your operating system and application footprints. I'm going to sound super old here but I remember when having 16MB of memory on my 486 dx2/66 system felt incredible. How could I possibly need more RAM? Now that wouldn't be able to load one full image I have taken on some of my cameras without swapping to disk
